Chryz began her time with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) as a Customer Services apprentice, in IT Services. She now helps bridge the gap between IT and clinical staff as a Junior IT Support Officer. "I was immediately surprised with how much responsibility I was given. I was heavily involved with big projects right from the off. I'd done an apprenticeship before in a different organisation straight out of school, but they never really gave me the opportunity to grow. It's not like that here."
Mike is the Spinal Services Coordinator at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). He makes sure doctors and surgeons have the information they need to complete their work. "I finally feel like I'm on the right path - not having a degree has always been a disadvantage, but now I've completed these apprenticeships, doors have opened for me. I definitely wouldn't be where I am without the apprenticeship scheme, and now I've got a clear plan of where I want to go."
Zee is an IT apprentice at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). He works across sites and is an integral part of the team. "I've always been a people person, and I feel so lucky to work in a team that really feels like a family. I'm never treated as less of a part of the team or like I'm 'just an apprentice'. I feel like I've got a real future at the trust, and there's not a better group of people to do it with."
